Jennie Shelton Vaughan, 80 of Amelia VA, formally of Madison VA went to be with the Lord on February 4th 2025. She was born on November 24, 1944 in Madison to the late Thomas Julian Shelton and Ella Loraine Shelton. She was preceded in death by her husband of 35 years George Leslie Vaughan SR of Amelia and her grandson James Wyatt Vaughan, also of Amelia. She was also preceded in death by her brothers Wilbur “Doc” Shelton, Edsel Julian Shelton wife Odessa (deceased), and John Malcolm Shelton of Madison, and by her stepdaughter Evelyn Vaughan Patton and stepson Albert Wyatt “Pete” Vaughan both of Amelia.

Jennie worked at GBC Co-Op for over 20 years, before becoming a CNA for the Ameia Nursing home. She then went on to work at Sydnor’s Store in Mannboro, VA until her retirement.

Jennie was well known and loved by all in the county especially in the Mannboro area, where she thrived at doing what she loved to do the best, which is cooking. Everyone would come for miles to get her fried chicken on Sunday mornings after church.

She is survived by her son George Leslie Vaughan Jr. with his wife Sherry Moquetta Vaughan and daughter Leslie Lee Vaughan Davis, stepdaughter Deborah Elizabeth Vaughan Mason with her husband Henry, all of Amelia, brothers William “Jim” Shelton and wife Anna, George “Hap” Shelton (wife Agnes deceased), and sisters Mary “Sis” Bragan (husband Arthur Bragan deceased) and Helen Ward and husband Paul Ward, all of Madison VA.  Step grandchildren Stephanie Mason, Ashley Mason Little, Ann Mason James, Angie Mason Davis, Donna Vaughan Patton and Terry Vaughan Bridges.
