On Saturday morning, April 5, 2025, Darlene Dabney answered her call to proceed to her heavenly home to rest.
Darlene was born February 7, 1953, to the late Rosa Margaret Harris Mason. She was raised by her grandparents, the late Mamie and Mckinley Harris. She attended Nottoway High School and graduated in 1972. Darlene was baptized and joined New Prospect Baptist Church at an early age under the leadership of the late Reverend Walter I. Downs. She definitely believed in her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. She was a participant in the Junior Choir and a faithful member of the Usher Board. She attended church services regularly until her health failed. She loved her church and her church family.
She was employed at the Piedmont Geriatric Hospital in Burkeville, Virginia as an environmental service worker for many years. She was a devoted worker, and she took pride in her work.
She later met her husband, the love of her life, Herbert Dabney. They were married for 25 years. Darlene loved her family and friends. She would always call and check on family and friends anytime, day or night. She was very poetic and creative. She loved to laugh and joke around. Darlene enjoyed dancing, listening to music, and playing a card game called “spades.”
She was preceded in death by her husband, Herbert Dabney; her mother, Rosa Margaret Harris Mason; her grandparents, Mamie and Mckinley Harris; her brother, Charles Mason, Jr.; and her sister, Jernell Beasley.
She leaves to cherish her memories a very loving and truly devoted daughter, Latonya Harris; one granddaughter, Aleceya (ACE) Eddings; sisters, Patricia Goodson of Richmond, VA, Sabrina White (Charles) of Blackstone, VA; brothers, Lewis Mason (Sarah) and Irvin Mason (Trina) of Richmond, VA; three nieces; three nephews; two uncles; six aunts; goddaughter, Devin Lee; host of cousins and friends; one devoted cousin, Cassandra H. Carrington; devoted friends, David and Mabel Dodson, Patricia Wells, Sarah Eppes Price, Mary Willis, and Lorinda Hardy; a devoted Pastor, Reverend Dr. J. Jones, Jr.; a devoted Doctor, Jonathon Marston of Crewe, Virginia.
