Ms. Gale Denise Catherine Austin Lesine, age 66, departed this earthly life on Saturday, September 27, 2025, at Henrico Doctor’s Hospital in Richmond, Virginia.

Gale was born on November 4, 1958, in Wilmington, North Carolina, to the late Ralph Austin and Willie Lucille Locke Austin. Gale was raised by her grandmother, Catherine Keaton Johnson better known as “Kitty” and grandfather, Clifford Locke in Wilmington, NC.

Gale received her GED from John T. Hoggard High School in Wilmington, NC and continued her education at Durham Technical Community College where she received her certification in Early Childhood Education.

Gale was kind, giving, and had a generous spirit.  She was also known for taking care of any animal or family members in need.  She cared deeply for her children and grandchildren.

Gale is preceded in death by her grandparents, Clifford and Kitty; parents, Ralph and Lucille Austin; and daughter, Latanya Lesine.

Gale leaves to cherish her memory: her sons, Kevin Lesine of Durham, NC, Rodney Lesine, Jr. (Kimyetta) of Amelia, VA; grandchildren, Nadia, Maya, Amaris, Leah, and Alena; nephew, Derek Lesine, other nephews, nieces, cousins and a host of additional relatives and friends.

God saw you getting tired, when a cure was not to be,

So He wrapped His arms around you, and whispered, “Come to Me.”

You didn’t deserve what you went through, so He gave you rest,

God’s garden must be beautiful, He only takes the best.

And when I saw you sleeping, so peaceful and free from pain,

I could not wish you back, to suffer that again.
