Edith May Jefferson Obituary

Edith May Jefferson, 95, made her exit to Glory on Thursday morning, January 22, 2026.  She was born to the late Thomas Eugene Jefferson and Joncie Glenn-Jefferson on February 5, 1930, in Amelia County.


At an early age, she accepted Christ as her Savior and was baptized at the Manassa Hill Baptist Church.  Edith grew up in a large loving family where she was taught Christian values, and the family attended church on Sundays.  She attended the Manassa Hill School during her youth then to Russell Grove graduating in 1949.


Edith moved to Richmond to seek a better life, she found employment with Durham family for 64 years.  She moved back to Amelia in 2016, she loved being with family and looked forward to family events. 


She was predeceased by her parents, brothers: Tom, Moses, Abraham, Frank, Clarence, Johnnie, George and Robert Jefferson; Sisters: Henrietta Jeffereson, Lucy Sykes, Sallie McGee, Geraldine Dilworth and Annie Jefferson. 


Edith leaves cherished memories to: loving and devoted sister-in-law: Pinkie Jefferson.  A Host of nieces and nephews, great nieces and nephews, great-great nieces and nephews, other relatives and friends, special friends: Ms. Laverne Johnson, Janet and Don Nelms and families.


Edith wanted to see Jesus, her parents, sisters, and brothers.  She is done with the troubles of this world.  Edith is gone home to love with God.  No more pain, doctors, medicine or hospitals.  We find comfort in knowing that she had a close relationship with Jesus, and that her soul is resting.
