Dorothy L. Sloan Obituary

God sent His angel to the bedside of Dorothy Laverne Sloan and whispered, “My Child it is time to come home and take your rest. Your work on earth is finished.”


 


Dorothy was born on August 15, 1938, to the late Ralph Washington Scott and Lillian Idell Scott.  She was educated and graduated from Russell Grove High School in 1954


She joined Union Baptist Church at an early age.  She served as the church clerk, and she remained a faithful member of the choir for many years.


Dorothy worked as a claims adjuster for USF&G Insurance, where she attained her certification as a Claims Insurance Adjuster.  She retired in 2000 after many years of service.  She also served as a notary public, and she learned and mastered shorthand, a skill she took great pride in.


In addition to her parents, She was also preceded in death by her children, Renee Darnette Sloan, Howard Sloan, Jr., and Darrin Sloan, grandchild, Shante’ Renee Sloan.


Dorothy leaves to cherish fond and loving memories to her daughters, Ronda Sloan, Dawn Cassandra Sloan and Pamela Sloan, her grandchildren, Wakeesha Sloan, Shondel Sloan, Raniesha McDowdell, Dymond McDowdell, Darrin Sloan, Jr., Dior Sloan, and Aaliyah Sloan-Nathan, her great-grandchildren, Robert Pouncey, Jr., Terry Campbell, Jr., Hajanay Sloan, Hajile Sloan, Israel McDowdell, Issac Sutton and Isiah Sutton, one great-great-grandchild, Raelyn Pouncey, her sisters, Delores Clark and Anna Scott Pegram (John),Sister/Cousin Barbara Booker (Thomas) her devoted aunt, Mildred Crawley and uncle, James Crawley, along with a host of nieces and nephews as well as her caretaker and friend, Reverend Anna Smith.
