Wilbur Lee Woodley Obituary

Gently and peacefully, our family circle was broken on February 4, 2023. The love and sweet spirit of our loved one, Wilbur Lee Woodley went to be with His Savior in a home not built by man’s hand, but who’s maker and builder is God Almighty.

Wilbur Woodley was a wonderful husband, father, grandfather, son, and brother.  He was born on September 19, 1962, to the parents of Deacon Frank, Sr. and Deaconess Emeritus Rosa G. Woodley in Amelia, Virginia. He was educated and graduated from Amelia County Public School in 1980.

At an early age, Wilbur received the Lord Jesus Christ, was baptized, and joined Branches Runn Baptist Church.  As a child, he attended Sunday School and sung in the Youth Choir.  Upon Adulthood, he was a faithful and loyal member of the Usher’s Ministry, Beautification Ministry, and supporter of the Hospitality Ministry.

Wilbur had a rewarding occupation in driving, distribution, and management, as a bus driver for Amelia County Public Schools and R. C. Cola Company, retiring from Wonder Bread as District Sales Manager where he demonstrated various professional achievements. He then operated a distribution route for Little Debbie Cakes under the company name of Woodley & Son. After closing his business, he returned to what he loved the most, as a bus driver for Chesterfield County Public Schools.

Wilbur was recognized by the Shriners Hospital for Children for his philanthropy.  He was very energetic. He loved grilling at family cookouts, hunting, fishing, working on cars, taking cruises, and being a member of the Trojan’s Motorcycle Club.  His most fond memories were spending time with his brother and sister-in-law, Mack & Alisha at their lake house in Clarksville, Virginia.

Wilbur was united in holy matrimony to Debra Michaux for over thirty years.

He was preceded in death by his brother, Dave, sister, Amy and niece, Taniesha.

He leaves fond and precious memories to: his loving and devoted wife, Debra Woodley; daughter, Sherrell Miller; son, Devin Woodley (Kahleya); grandsons, Tyson Miller and Devin Lee Woodley Jr.; godson, Kaden Kennedy; parents, Deacon Frank, Sr. and Deaconess Emeritus Rosa G. Woodley; brothers, Mack (Alisha), Frank, Jr. (Juanita), and Reverend Wade (Barbara); sisters, Gloria Booker (Arnold) and Reverend Lillian “Mae” Jenkins (Terrace), Rose Evans (Robert); aunts, Sarah and Gloria Glenn, Vernell Ross, and Patsy Woodley; uncles, Ben (Mary), William (Eve), and Larry Glenn; sisters-in-law, Gloria Trent (Hazel), and Brenda Jones (Thomas); a host of nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews, cousins, other relatives and many, many devoted friends, Robert Green, Steve Warren, and James Jefferson.
