To Lynette and the Family:
My sincere condolences. May you cherish the memories that your shared. He will live on in them.
Cousin Howdy and I reconnected about three years ago. When I moved to Cleveland OH and he went on with his life we lost touch. I saw him briefly during a family reunion in 2014. After that not any contact, until about three years ago. He let me know that he had moved to King George VA and invited me to stop by on my travels to Virginia. One year (2021) I did and was happy to see him again. He spent most of our visit telling me about his RV and was excited to be able to spend the winters in Florida. (To be honest, I was jealous, but happy for him). I will always have this memory of him. God Bless !!!

Q: What will you never forget about Howard?
A: I will never forget Cousin Howard texting me on Facebook some years back asking me was I coming to the Family Reunion. I live in Connecticut. I can't recall what was going on with me during that time but, his exact words were:[ If you need any help coming to the Family Reunion just let me know.] I was so touched that he said that and i knew then that he was really into meeting family. I never got to meet him but, we played Words with Friends on Facebook for a while. R.I.P. Cousin Howard.

Howard came to our community many years ago. I became his family's electrician and my brother, his barber. Howard was the type of guy who once you met him, it seems as though you had known him your entire life. We shared many conversations about our families, which is something I will never forget. We will forever cherish the memory of Howard being a part of our lives and community. Our deepest condolences.

I miss my big brother. Howard has been in my life since I was 19. He was committed to his family and that included anyone with whom he was remotely related. That meant he would be there for you, no matter where you were or what you needed.
Howard was a true “Girl Dad” to my 3 beautiful nieces. I watched him wash and fold tiny clothes for them when they were babies and braid hair better than me! They loved their “Dadoo”. He called my daughter Jamie #4 because he treated her just like one of his own. She lived with them one school semester and he and Lynne put her in swimming lessons with the girls.
Howard could fix ANYTHING. If he saw something that needed fixing, he would get on it without you even asking him to do it. I had an ‘85 Honda Accord that had a dent in the fender. We were all at my mom’s house in Hampton and Howard had been outside, probably looking for something to do. He came inside the house and said “I fixed that dent in your car, Shell.” I was so surprised because I thought it would have to be done at a body shop. When I asked how he was able to fix it (not being in a body shop) he smiles and said “I have my ways”.
The last memory that I’ll share is of the time when Jamie bought her first car. She had saved everything she earned at a summer job after her Freshman year at Howard. I was still stationed in Washington state and she wanted to buy a used car when she went back to Virginia. Howard checked the car out from top to bottom before she bought it and helped her set up the insurance, completely alleviating my anxiety about her buying a lemon.
Howard was one of the best people I’ll ever know. He was larger than life in my eyes and I loved him for his genuine, gentle spirit and kind heart. Rest in peace and power, big brother.
Love, Michele (Terry) Forbes

I ran into "Howdy" a few years ago. He gave me the biggest hug and seemed genuinely happy to see his cousin. I will always remember the love and happiness of that random meeting. My deepest condolences to the family. May your hearts be blessed with peace and serenity during this time of difficulty.
Love to All
