Obituary of Ernest Lee Adams
Please share a memory of Ernest to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
On Wednesday, March 6, 2024, God dispatched one of his angels to go by the bedside and peacefully called Ernest Lee Adams, Sr. to his well-deserved heavenly home of rest.
Sonny as he was affectionately called, was born May 16, 1944, to the late Edward and Alice Wiley Adams. He was baptized and joined the Macedonia Baptist Church at an early age where he served as a valued trustee until his health failed.
After attending Russell Grove High School and starting his family, Ernest began working at Johnson Logging Corporation. Known for his unwavering work ethics, Ernest was employed at Johnson Logging Corporation for over 35 years. Not willing to be inactive, Ernest continued to work at the Virginia Department of Transportation part-time for five years before his official retirement.
Ernest was a unique individual who was known for his serious demeanor. He loved watching western movies, jeopardy, and was a loyal Dallas Cowboy fan who owned as much memorabilia than the players. Ernest most important role was being the patriarch to his family.
He leaves to cherish precious memories to: two daughters, Janet Adams Booker (Tommy, incredibly devoted), Rice, VA and Joan Adams, North Arlington, NJ; son, Ernest Lee Adams, Jr., Rice, VA; loving brother, Horace Adams, Rice, VA; five grandchildren; three great grandchildren; special friend and mother of his children, Missie Giles Adams; two nephews, Corrick Adams, Rice, VA and Horace Wilson, Lynchburg, VA; a host of great nieces and nephews, family members and friends, special family friends, the VanRomondts.
