Obituary of Harry Henry Coleman

Please share a memory of Harry to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

Harry Henry Coleman passed from labor to reward on December 3, 2024. Born on March 10, 1945, to the late Albert and Laura Coleman, he was the youngest of eight children.

Harry was baptized at Ebenezer Baptist Church at an early age and was a faithful member and musician. He graduated from Russell Grove High School in 1963 where he was a stand-out athlete and all-around likeable guy. After proudly serving his country, Harry was honorably discharged from the United States Air Force in 1969. Following the military, he began employment with VCU/MCV Hospital where he retired after over 30 years of service.

Harry was a member of  the Richmond Lodge #65, Prince Hall Free and Accepted Masons of Virginia, where he formally served as Most Worshipful Master. Harry was an active member for more than 43 years and immensely enjoyed time spent with his lodge brothers.

Harry loved all things about old cars, playing the piano, listening to music, spending time with family, and traveling. He was a devoted husband, brother, uncle and friend. One of his gifts was being a wonderful musician able to play by ear. He used this talent to serve the Lord at Good Hope Baptist and Ebenezer Baptist Church for well over 55 years.

Harry leaves to cherish beautiful memories, his wife of 54 years, Maxine Morman Coleman; sister, Ann Adams of San Antonio, Texas; brother, Rufus Coleman (Eleanor) of Jetersville, VA; two sisters-in-law, Julia Coleman of Jetersville, VA and Ida Scott of Amelia, VA; two God children, Diante Morman and David Cosby; a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Harry’s presence will be missed. However, the values he shared with his family and friends will have a lasting impact.
