Obituary of Robert Daniel Robinson

Robert Daniel Robinson, also known as “Bob”, “Big Bob” transitioned this life on December 7, 2024, at his home in Amelia Virginia surrounded by his wife and daughter. He was born on May 25, 1941, to the late Dan and Florence Epps Robinson.

At an early age he joined Promise Land Baptist Church and was educated at Promise Land Elementary School and graduated from Russell Grove High School. Robert joined the United States Army in 1966 and was a Photo Lab Specialist / Developer. He served a tour of duty in the Vietnam War for nine months. A few honors he received are as follows: National Defense Service Medal, Good Conduct Medal, Vietnam Service Medal with 4 bronze service stars, Republic of Vietnam Civil Actions Honor Medal First Unit Citation, Overseas Service Bar and Sharpshooter Badge Rifle M-14. He was honorably discharged in 1968 with a rank of SP5 (T) E5 Staff Sergeant. He was a Disabled Vietnam, a member of the American Legion and Veterans of Foreign Wars.

He managed the local Buggs Place and was employed by G.L. Howard Construction Company as a foreman for over 40 years. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great grandfather. He took pride in taking care of his family. He was a faithful provider and protector. He made sure his family always had a roof over their heads, food on the table and firewood for the winter. For many years, he raised pigs and cows. He looked forward to enjoying the fruits of his labor especially a freshly cured ham and a fresh hot sage seasoned sausage biscuit. He spent countless hours planting a garden, sharing the harvest with family and friends as well as maintaining beautiful yard. He was a great cook and learned how to cook from his mother. He never used a recipe as he seasoned his food by taste. He enjoyed having cook outs and gatherings for his family and friends. He loved a good poker game and playing the lottery too. One of his favorite things to eat was a ginger snaps and cheese. He was also a dedicated Washington Commanders fan and local photographer. He passed on his love of photography to his daughter.

He was proceeded in death by his son, Stanley Epps and sisters, Betty Robinson Holman, Louise Robinson Archer, and his beloved dog “Pup Pup”. He leaves to cherish his memories, his wife of close to fifty years and devoted caregiver, Alfreda Robinson; daughter, Monica (Levar); sons, Derrick and Avery (Mona); four granddaughters, Delshay “Del”, Deandra “Dee”, Kayla, and Shakia “Jayana” (honorary); two grandsons, Derrick “Shay” and Malone,  great-grandchildren; siblings, Florence Wade, Muriel Gass (Eugene), James, Alice Royal (William), Ernest (Irene), Wayne (Hilda); mother-in-law, Edmonia Crayton; sister-in-law, Gloria Royal; brother-in-law, Mason Archer;  along with many nieces, nephews, one devoted, Vincent Holman, other relatives, and friends.

 

God’s Promise

God didn’t promise days without pain, laughter without sorrow or sun without rain.

But God did promise strength for the day, comfort for the tears and a light for the way.

And for all who believe in His Kingdom above.

He answers their faith with everlasting love.
