Elbert Jones departed this life on Friday, March 6, 2020 at the Appomattox Rehabilitation Center in Appomattox, Virginia. He was born in Lynchburg, Virginia October 3, 1938 to the late Harry T. Austin and Kathleen Jones and as well as the son of Mattie Gordon Horsley who raised him from a very young child. He was preceded in death by one sister, Louise Jones and his twin brother Delbert Jones, John Jones, and David Jones. At an early age, Elbert was baptized and joined St. Joy Baptist Church. He was a faithful member. He was united in holy matrimony to Daisy Harvey Jones December 21, 1967. Watching the birds, listening to gospel music, keeping up with current events and working word search puzzles gave him great happiness and joy. He received his education through Buckingham County School system. He was employed by Buckingham County School System as a bus driver, and cafeteria worker for 40 plus years. He is survived by his loving and devoted wife, Daisy; one beloved and devoted brother, Ernest Kyle of Lynchburg; one sister, Jereline Jones of Bronx, New York; one sister-in-law, Phyllis Jones of Roanoke; an aunt, Shirley (Lewis) Anderson of Atlanta, Ga; a special cousin, Lillian Austin Jones, Cora Perkins, and a host of nieces and nephews; god-daughters, Deborah Garrett and Vicky Bowles; special daughter, Mary V. Holman and Gertrude F. Holman. Special friends, Emmitt and Jean Lewis, Todd and Joan Shumaker, Grace Chambers, The Wright Family, Annie Franklin, Jane Allen, Linda V. APige, Linda Webber, Mary S. Moore, Thelma Braxton, and Ted Woodson
