Herbert was born on August 12, 1964 to the late John Dabney and survived by his mother Hattie Dabney. He departed this life July 7, 2020. Herbert was known to some of his co-workers, friends and family as “Hounddog”. Herbert was baptized at an early age and joined High Rock Baptist Church in Rice, Va, He had several jobs and was a hard worker. He met the love of his life, Darlene Harris Dabney whom he married on December 25, 1993. They were married for 26 years. He decided to move his membership to New Prospect Baptist Church and served on the Usher Board until his health failed. He loved his wife and was very dedicated to her. He was very instrumental in serving as her main caregiver. He really stood by his vows in taking care of her. Herbert is preceded in death by his father, John Dabney and his sister, Gertrude Johnson. He leaves to cherish his loving memories; his wife, Darlene Harris Dabney; daughter, Tonya Harris; mother, Hattie Dabney of Richmond, Va. Mary Stewart and Denice Dabney of Rice, Va; two brothers, Kenneth and Samuel Dabney of Rice, Va; two aunts, Odessa and Florence Haskins; one uncle, June Truehart; two sister-in-laws, Sabrina (Charles) White and Patricia Goodson; three brother-in-laws, Rufus Johnson, Irvin and Lewis Mason; a host of loving nieces, one devoted niece, Tonya Kimbrough, nephews, cousins, and friends; devoted friends, David (Mabel) Dodson.
