Obituary of Percy Leon Finney
Please share a memory of Percy to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Percy Leon Finney departed this life on August 31, 2020 at the Bonview Nursing Facility in Richmond, Virginia. He was born to Percy Finney and Alease Elizabeth Reese on October 12, 1932 in Newport News, Virginia.
Percy was preceded in death by his father, mother and sister, Anna L. Finks. He attended the Oak Grove School in Mannboro, Virginia. Percy served his country in the United States Navy. After serving three tours, he was honorably discharged on November 21, 1964. He returned to Richmond and was employed at the McGuire Veterans Medical Center. Percy retired from the United States Postal Service after 42 years of service in Security and Maintenance.
He loved traveling, driving to the beach, reading magazines, watching wrestling on TV and dining in restaurants. Just being able to enjoy any meal at a favorite restaurant made him smile. In his younger years, he rode scooters and motorcycles. P.L. Was amazed at the fact that so many of his own family and old buddies have passed on him before him and that somehow he was still knocking around.
Percy leaves to cherish his memories, sister, Mary Finney Jones; nephew, Mark A. Jones; nieces, Mary J. Coleman, Ruth J. Finks, and Debra J. Valentine; great nieces, Alisha and Tiffany Coleman; devoted friend, Lawrence Threatt, George and Bernice Huskerson, and many other friends he met through the years.
