Please share a memory of James to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

James (Jimmy) Edward Scott peacefully entered into eternal rest on December 11, 2020 at the Golden Years Assisted Living Facility, Hampton, VA. He was born in Amelia County, VA on May 18, 1953 to his loving parents, the late Edward Scott, Jr. and Dorothy Frances Scott. He attended Oak Grove School until the third grade then he relocated to Queens, NY and graduated from Andrew Jackson High School, Cambria Heights, NY in 1971. Jimmy was christened at Bethia Baptist Church and attended various churches throughout his lifetime.

In 1972, he worked 10 years as a heavy equipment operator at Con Edison Gas Company, Bronx, NY. He also worked at Asplundh Tree Company as a tree specialist. He then did miscellaneous handyman services for homeowners within New York and Virginia.

Jimmy was a kind, fun, and just a loving person. He loved to give and make others happy. He always made sure he helped the seniors in the neighborhood, and made sure the kids in various neighborhoods received a treat from the ice cream truck. Jimmy enjoyed dogs, horseback riding, and music. He loved to DJ for his friends and family at various functions.

He is preceded in death by his father, Edward Scott, Jr. He leaves to cherish his memory, his loving mother, Dorothy Frances Scott of Newport News, VA; brother, Ben Scott of Newport News, VA; sister, Tonya Scott of Newport News, VA; niece, Todja Lecadre of Newport News, VA; two nephews, Rahshun Balthrope of Connecticut and Christopher Lorenzo (Kristen) of Newport News, VA; three great nieces, four great nephews, aunts and uncles, Virginia Hayes (Sidney), Laverne Lewis, Wilbert Scott (Nedra), and Richard Scott (Ernestine); three good friends, Edith Blackman of Virgin Islands, Lenny Washington of Pennsylvania, and Paul Wilson of Amelia, VA; and a host of other relatives and friends.

God saw you getting weaker and He whispered, “Come and rest.”

His garden must be beautiful. For he only picks the best.

It broke our hears to lose you, but you did not go alone

For part of us went with you, the night God called you home.
