Evelyne James, a resident of Amelia Courthouse, Virginia passed away peacefully at Bon Secours Community Hospice House in Richmond, Virginia on January 25, 2020
Born on March 13, 1940 in Winston-Salem, North Carolina, Evelyne attended Ohio State University. She retired from the State of Ohio after more than 30 years of dedicated service.
Evelyne Loved music, dancing, and shopping. She was an avid artist. Evelyne had a passion for her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Jefferson Davis II and Anna Maxwell Diggs, brothers Jefferson III, Andrew and Robert Diggs, and her late husband, E.L. James.
She leaves precious and fond memories: her sister, Laura Blackburne; son, Alex James; daughter, Angela Wilson (Caroll); grandchildren, Alex James II, Gabbrielle Sobalvarro (Luis), Ashley Gable, Kayla Elliott, Thomas Jefferson; great-grandchildren, Angelina and DeAndre; nieces, nephews, adopted grandchildren and friends.
